My very own Blue Chair

October 31, 2005

We went furniture hunting today at Target. Instead of getting something for the house, we end up getting this cute little blue chair for Mal. He loved the seat at first glance. He sat down so comfortably while we were still in the shop. Too bad I forgot to snap some pictures for that. When people passed by, they were amused to see this little boy lounging in the chair, so contented and happy. So now back home, he had another favourite seat for meals.

Happy Halloween !!!

October 31, 2005

Today is Halloween..both me and Mal’s 1st Halloween here. Kids came knocking on our doors as early as 6 plus cos the sun set early, asking for Tricks or Treats. Luckily we did prepared some sweets and had them put inside Mal’s halloween pail which came in very handy. Mal was initially a bit in shock when he saw so many people at the door. He thought these kids were here to play ball with him :) There were some kids who wore rather eerie outfits which he pointed out to me…guess he was scared. He soon get the hang of it, as in, whenever the door bell rings, he would need to take his halloween pail and expect to see people at the door shouting Tricks or Treats and got ready to give out sweets. Very soon we ran out of sweets and I started to panick. Luckily Daddy came back in time and told us that so long as we switched off the front porch light, the kids would not come and knock on the door. Sure enough, the trick worked! Phew….

Big Big Cactus

October 31, 2005

We just finished grocery shopping at our usual supermarket. On the way back to the car, we passed by the tall and big cactus again. This time, I decided to take some pictures for him and the cactus together. Strangely, this guy likes cactus. Everytime we passed by one, he will go….’aaaccctuus…aacctuuss’ think he trying very hard to pronounce cactus. This one we saw right outside the supermarket was huge and in comparison to Malcolm, he looked so tiny. The sun was hot…this place is a desert….’mummy….ooouucch, hot hot!’

Friends in the Park

October 30, 2005

After watching the swan, we strolled back. This place is so scenic…the next lovely spots we passed by is this very green park with a nice playground with shelter. Brought him there to see some kids played with the swings. This time he was ok to get off the stroller. He stood at the side to watch other kids played with the swing for a very long time. Later there was this friendly girl who said hi to us and we introduced Malcolm. She was about 9 years old and was there with her younger brother and nanny who was holding on to 4 dogs. She asked for permission to carry Malcolm. Surprisingly he was not scared this time and even hgged and kissed her after that. She was eager to introduce Malcolm to all 4 dogs. As usual, Malcolm was more than happy to play and pat the dogs. On the way back, we saw fruit trees grown in people’s backyard… a lemon tree and an orange tree!

Swans, ducks and all the fowls

October 30, 2005

Today is a Sunday… I told myself by hooks or by crooks, I am going to bring Malcolm to the park. I was up early to call home. At 9 plus, Daddy finally woke up and while he went jogging, I put Malcolm in his stroller and strolled to this very lovely spot…where all the swans, ducks and fowls hanged around. I always passed by the place when I went jogging and had wanted to bring him there. It is around 15 min walk from the place we were temporary staying. He held on to his peanut butter bread… munching away while I pushed him along.

Luckily we were not too late to see the fowls. Malcolm was too shocked and scared to come down from the stroller. He chose to stay in his stroller and enjoy the view. He only began to loosen up when he saw Daddy fed the swan with the bread that he was munching. All the swans and wild ducks seemed to be very shy, only one swan with a crown on his head dare to come near the food and it was so cute and funny to see it went …. oorrrhh..oorrrhh….oorrrhhh…seemed like asking for food in its own language. Malcolm was definitely thrilled and fascinated to see such a scene. Now he knows what ducks and swans are, esp when he do his favourite ‘duck walk’ :)

Lunch at Vietnamese coffee shop

October 29, 2005

Today we went to this vietnamese coffee shop for lunch again. The carrot cake was very nice…authentic by the standard here. A lot of asian restaurants here sold food that were not authentic as they like to make the food very sweet maybe to cater to the locals here. Anyway her love the carrot cakes here. Here’s Hannah che che, the one who always fight with him for toys…and poor little Malcolm always lose out.

My First Knee Scab

October 25, 2005

He fell down the other day and bruised his knee. This one was pretty bad as there was some infection around the bruise and when I tried to apply some antheseptic for him, he refused and cried cos I think the bruise was a bit raw and hurts. I had to reassure him that it would be ok tomorrow as I applied the lotion.

NBA star

October 25, 2005

Today his pair of new sports shoes were put to good use. We went to the gym and there was this HUGE basketball court with like 6 or 9 shooting spots. To use the court, you need to wear proper sports shoes and luckily he was wearing one :) You could just grabbed a ball from the huge ball container by the side of the court and played. He had fun running around the big court and chasing after the ball. He was reluctant to leave the place when we had to go. Would definitely bring him there again.

My first pair of Nike shoe

October 23, 2005

It was about time to get him a comfy pair of shoes as he had outgrown his old pigeon shoes, which was the best pair of shoes we had got him so far. He wasn’t in very good mood when we first got there, as it was his nap time and he got very grumpy. I was however determined to get him a pair of shoes today, so he hanged around the place, made him napped in the car for a while and went for lunch at the Sunflower Bread Company again. After lunch, he was much energetic and was happy when we brought him to the shoe shop again.

All the dress shoes and even sandals look bulky and stiff, so we decided to get him a pair of sports shoes instead. The material was much comfortable and the shoe was broad at the toes area which was very important as this guy had toes that spread out. We finally decided on a pair of white Nike shoes. He was happy to wear his new shoes, going around to say ‘hi’ to other kids…esp to this little blond girl

Yum yum…watch me eat

October 23, 2005

As usual he wanted to have his breakfast on his lawn chair at the backyard. Today he had Kellogg’s Strawberry Cornflakes with Milo Milk. He was in a mood to show me how tasty his cornflakes were. When he saw me took out the camera, he purposely went ‘ah….mmmh…yum’ and popped his cornflakes into his mouth….’ah…mmmhhh…yum’….there he goes again!

Brrrrr the water is cold!

October 22, 2005

Today finally we let him tried out the water. The weather was hot but the water was not. It was cold so I only let him put in his legs, hoping that he would know that the water was too cold to swim. The plan didn’t seem to work and very soon he wanted to jump inside the cold water, so we took off his diapers and shirt thinking of letting him swim for a while, provided Daddy joined him. Too bad, daddy chickened out as the water was really too cold and Malcolm ended up splashing water at the edge of the pool.

My Little Trolley

October 21, 2005

He found out new ways to play with his little trolley today. Instead of using it for his normal bricks block, he pulled it to the backyard and used it to collect twigs, pebbles and fallen fruits. Who needs new toys when old toys can be made new with a little bit of creativity :)

Daddy’s Office

October 21, 2005

He had his 1st visit to Daddy’s office. He was at first apprehensive when we just got there but was warmed up after a while. He began running around and finding things to play. This guy doesn’t need colourful toys…he just need new things, nevermind if they are grey and dull looking…he will find some ways to play with them and keep himself occupied for a while…so that does save us quite a bit of $$ on new toys for him :)

Front Porch

October 21, 2005

He realised today that the front porch may be a nice place to play too. There were nice bushes of flowers with butterflies. Our neighbour has a little water fountain and Malcolm was trying his luck to see whether he could get near to play with it! Amidst the flower bush, there was this sign to ward off potential burglary to the house. He got hooked playing with it and refused to leave the sign alone and get back into the house. He does look like a CrimeBuster, doesn’t he ?

More ‘toys’ at our temporary lodging

October 21, 2005

We got him this cute little water bottle, another Rubbermaid product from Walmart. It came with a spout for him to suck his drink from…something to act like a ‘milk bottle’ which he never used. The open areas of the house were his playground now. He would go to the backyard and picked up twigs from the lawn, played with the spotlights that lined the pool, once a while he would notice some butterflies visiting the flowers, at certain time of the days, the water sprinkler would come to life. Today he even learn how to look up in the sky when a plane flew by. He especially loved snacking, lunching or dining in the lawn chair. This little young boy does know how to enjoy life!
