Chicken Wing

November 30, 2005

Malcolm loves chicken wing. Back home, we will sometime order BBQ chicken wings and let him have one by himself. He would munched, chewed and sucked the juice, meat and bone. I decided to fried some chicken wings today since it has been quite sometime since he had one. Here he is…ready to savour his little drumstick.

JigSaw

November 30, 2005

I bought this cute wooden animals jigsaw puzzle quite sometime ago. The animal are big, colourful and to us, easy to recognise. But Malcolm is unable to place the animal in the correct place until few days ago. Now when he picks up one animal, he is able to recognise the animal as he will look through the board for similar animal and place the animal he has on hand at where it is supposed to be. This is one way that I think he is more aware of his surrounding cos he sees and recognise the things that he sees. There was another alphabet jigsaw that I bought for him recently…he surprise me…after playing with him a few times….now…as I type this blog…he is placing each letter in its place when I hand him each alphabet! I was shocked! He is able to recognise each alphabet or he is able to recognise the match! Whichever way it is…I am impressed!

Sweeping again…

November 30, 2005

He is playing with his broom and dustpan again. This simple sweeping can be hard work for this little boy….taking a break in the pool chair does seem like a good idea….oh, this pool chair was another good bargain we got from a garage sale which cost us only $20!

We are always amazed by how Malcolm can find so much fun playing with all the tools and utensils. We think that he is using his imagination really hard while playing with such ‘toys’. We concluded that whatever toys we gave him, it is only fun if Daddy and Mummy can play with him as well.

Big Big Boss

November 30, 2005

Malcolm suddenly grew up for the past week or so…He is getting more playful and full of new tricks and expressions. …he is also able to repeat most words we said and is more aware of his surrounding. He recently learnt how to fold his arm in front of his chest. I would make fun of him calling him the Big Boss. So now when I ask him how a Big Big Boss looks….he would give me the chicky smile and fold his arm in front his chest. Damn ya ya look!

Orange Tree ?

November 25, 2005

Daddy decided to clear up the lawn on Sunday morning. Malcolm was delighted to see us work on the lawn and was eager to join in. He readily took over the broom and dustpan and followed what we did, sweeping the fallen the leaves. Right at the corner of our lawn, there was this tree, I had noticed the tree but did not pay much attention to it, thinking that it was just another tree struggling to survive. It was when Daddy went up close to the tree to sweep off some fallen leaves, that we discovered some fruits growing on the tree. We were excited! It looks like orange, or lime, or lemon…we were not sure. We had one cut open and we concluded that it could be an orange tree! We have an orange tree right in our lawn! That was so cool! Who knows, we may be able to harvest some oranges right from our lawn when the season is here!

Sleeping in his Own Little Bed

November 23, 2005

We had converted his baby crib…which was a white elephant back home cos he hardly used it, to a cute little bed for him. The bed is low and had barriers at the side to prevent him from rolling off the bed when he sleeps. I had wanted to get him a queen size bed cos Mal is so used to sleeping with us in our king size bed where he can roll all over he likes. Daddy however was not so keen with idea as he is afraid of pampering this little boy too much….think Daddy is still caught up with his kampong days :) anyway, since this baby bed is so cute…we decide to give a try. This shot was taken when he used the bed for the 1st time during one of his afternoon nap. I guess nanny will screamed her heads off when she sees this photo as the older generation think it is never good to snap pictures when one is sleeping. I couldn’t resist as this picture is too precious to miss!

My Tricycle

November 23, 2005

He finally got his toys from back home. We assembled his tricycle the night before and this morning he decided to try on his tricycle. He had grown quite a bit since we reached here and this time, he was able to reach the pedal and pushed with his feet. However, this tricycle wasn’t very well designed and it is not moving even when he pushed with all his might.

Carpenters at Work

November 23, 2005

Our furniture had arrived with the boxes and now it is time to fix them up. As usual, Malcolm is always happy to see us take out tools as that means he can join in the fun too. He watched Daddy used the hammer and wanted to so too, but we managed to convince him to use his toy hammer instead. So here he was, busy hammering on one end while Daddy fixed the other end :)

ushrOOOOMM

November 23, 2005

This is his favourite food now. MUSHROOM! I have been cooking mushroom for him for every meals without fail now. Cos I afraid he will not eat his food if there is no mushroom! When it comes to mealtime, he will go ‘ushrOOOOMM, ushrOOOOMM‘, by the way, that is how he pronounce mushroom…as usual he can’t pronounce the 1st alphabet :) I am not sure why he likes mushroom so much cos usually he will spit out any food that requires chewing, except if they are junk food like choco chip cookies or potato chips. But when it comes to mushrooms, he don’t mind the chewing. We guess it could be genetic cos Daddy is a big mushroom fan as well.

Since his visit to the park where he saw all the ducks and geese, he now recognise ‘duck’ better. He is able to say ‘duck’ when he saw one in the book. He is able to appreciate his own duck walk better :) Today he decide to bring his rubber ducky to play with swing, he let rubber ducky sit right next beside him while he swings along.

Little Brother or Sister

November 17, 2005

Was at a friend’s house who just had a 2 weeks old baby. Oh, not this one in the picture. This one in the picture was already 10 months old. Malcolm was really sweet, he played with this ?? quietly and stroke her gently. I was quite amazed to see him interact so well with a younger baby as I had seen some kids who ain’t very friendly to younger kids. I guess this means that he won’t be too jealous if a ?? or ?? comes along as he does look like he will love to have a little brother or sister to play with :)

elMO

November 17, 2005

That’s how he pronounced Elmo…with a very soft ‘el’ followed by a loud ‘MO’, I guess it is because he still not so good at his phonics. Here you see his elmo slippers in action. It was cold and this pair of slippers were just nice to keep his small little feet warm. Both me and daddy thought that he looked incredibly cute in those slippers. I was still contemplating whether to return the shoes back as I was afraid that his liking for the shoes is going to be very temporary and short lived… guess I was wrong…he has not forgotten his elmo shoes yet and is definitely loving them as you can see him showing off his new shoes. I can now remove the price tag and quit the idea of returning the shoes… elMO is here to stay :)

My Bathrobe

November 17, 2005

ok.. I had finally bought him a bathrobe…actually maybe not really a bathrobe…as the material is abit different…it is more like a night robe that you will wear over your pyjamas. So it’s even better cos I can have dual functions for a single purchase, more worth it. Daddy had not been very keen in getting Mal a bathrobe cos he thought it wasn’t really necessary. I went ahead with the purchase when I went shopping alone with Mal the other day. This time my justification was again….weather is getting cold ;) I usually bath with Mal and with a bathrobe for him in hand will prevent him from catching a cold one of this day as I can easily put it over him while I dry myself first. He can then run around the house, play with his toys, basically take his own sweet time before he got dressed. So here he is, running around in his bathrobe, playing with his toys with no urgency to get dressed. I guess, change in weather can be a good excuse to shop and splurge $$ … never have such chance back home ;)

Elmo sHoes

November 17, 2005

Malcolm is getting a bit obsessed with Elmo nowadays. He is learning how to speak a few words and ‘elMO’ is one of his favourite words. Just the other day, we were out shopping for some sandals for daddy. He was quick to spot a pair of Elmo indoor slippers and pestered me to help put them on for him. Once he got the shoes on, he refused to let me take them off. So in order to continue shopping peacefully, I gave in to him and let him walk around the store with his Elmo slippers. He had his wish came true as I bought him the pair of shoes. I justified to myself that okie… the weather is getting cooler now and a pair of indoor slippers will be nice to keep his feet warm since most part of our house are not carpetted :)
