This is currently one of our favourite book. I chanced upon it in the library and was attracted by how some of the places in Paris were introduced in the book. I thought Mal will be able to relate to the book since we are in Paris now. I read a few pages to Mal in the library and we decided to borrow it.
The book is about this little girl named Linnea who travel to Paris with his retired neighbour Mr Bloom. Both Linnea and Mr Bloom were nature lovers and Linnea was introduced to Claude Monet, the French Impressionist painter, when she read Mr Bloom’s book on the French artist.
Her dream came true when she visited the pink house in Giverny where Monet and his family lived over a hundred years ago and stood on the same little Japanese bridge that Monet painted so often in his pictures. She got to see many of Monet’s real paintings and even visited the Lily room at Musée de l’Orangerie.
The book contains photographs of many of Monet’s famous paintings and old family snapshots of the Monets. I find this an extremely good book for introducing children to art history, Monet’s Impressionist paintings and some of the famous places in Paris.
The story is a bit too long so we finished over a few reads. I should be getting the book on Amazon as the book is too precious to return to the library
