As if to compensate for the loss of Nina, we decided to put some new ‘life’ into our home.
We grabbed 2 empty jam jars, lined it with some cotton pads, sprinkled some beans, give it plenty of water and leave it near the window. We used soya beans as we only have that in our pantry.
I warned Mal that probably NOTHING will happen.
Firstly, I have only heard about growing green beans to get bean sprouts, never soya beans. Secondly, I thought the weather was too cold to grow anything. All plants are busy shedding now, it is not the time for new life.
But how wrong was I !
Miraculously, within a few days, little seedlings began to sprout!
We were surprised and Mal was so happy. It was as if these little soya beans were defying natural forces.
‘I will grow despite the cold, I will grow despite little sun shine!’
Then we worried again when we had to go for our trips.
We fed them water and gathered the jars under a table lamp. That will be their source of light for the next 1 week.
After a week, we were greeted by these at the entrance.
‘WE are happy and WE just can’t stop growing !!!’

That’s pretty awesome!!!!
did you mean your table lamp was on all week?!
Rachel : eerrrh yes, but we’ve checked, it’s energy saving bulb
haha
It used to be one of the projects when I was in school. Hehe! I hear soundtracks of memories coming into my head. Heh.
hahaha….after reading your later post, I would say, anything small that can cheer Malcolm up now is much welcomed ya!
